WHY I'M DOING THIS
I believe in valuing what we already have, looking after it, and giving broken things a second life instead of always buying new.
Jewellery holds so many memories, and it doesn't have to be gold or gemstones to matter. A costume necklace from Nan, a broken brooch, or an earring that lost its partner can mean the world, yet these pieces often end up gathering dust in the jewellery box.
I'm Kimba, a local jewellery designer and maker. I've spent years in jewellery production and manufacturing, working on everything from fine pieces to costume and theatre jewellery. Now I'd love to help bring your treasures back to life.
✦ Fixing or adding jump rings
✦ Fitting new earring hooks, clasps and other findings
✦ Soft soldering broken base-metal pieces
✦ Gluing with the right adhesive for the job
✦ Drilling new holes
If it's a quick fix, I'll do it while you watch or show you how. If it's more involved, you can finish it or look after it at home. I don’t stock crystals or rhinestones. If yours need replacing, I can advise on where to find them and how to fit them. For laser welding, I can refer you to someone I trust.
✦ The repair is free. If your piece needs a new finding, such as a clasp or earring hooks, you may need to cover the cost of the part. I have some free parts and some specialised ones I can supply at cost for $2-$10
✦ Silver and gold pieces aren't part of this day, apart from simple jump ring tweaks with pliers. For anything more complex, I'm happy to give advice and show you how it could be repaired.
✦ Adults only. The studio is cosy, so each person attending needs their own booking.
✦ You'll get the exact address in your confirmation email.
✦ Repairs are done with care but at your own risk.
All booked out? Join the waitlist and I'll let you know if a spot opens up or when the next repair day is on.
Some pieces deserve more than a quick fix. I also run other hands-on workshops, one coming soon in repairing, recreating and upcycling jewellery, as well as metalsmithing skills. I also make bespoke pieces, including reworking precious and sentimental jewellery into something you'll wear again.
Absolutely, as long as they book their own spot.
Sorry, this one is adults only because space is tight.
Yes, come for advice. You can also book a bespoke chat for a proper repair or remake quote.
Use the link in your confirmation email to cancel, so someone on the waitlist gets your spot.
There are a few spots on the front property, otherwise limited parking is on the kerb of the street and on surrounding streets. The studio address will be sent in the confirmation email.
